Three Spanish tourists participating in a canyoning route have died and another is missing after a powerful storm, Swiss authorities said Thursday.
The disappearance of the four men was reported Wednesday night, explained the police of the canton of St. Gallen, in the east of the country.
Rescuers were able to recover three bodies overnight, but had to suspend the search for the fourth person due to bad weather. The operation resumed early Thursday.
Swiss television station SRF reported that the deceased were taking a private trip through the Parlitobel Gorge, a popular canyoning destination about 85 kilometers (53 miles) southeast of Zurich, when they were surprised by the storm.
