Top-seeded Simona Halep and third-seeded Elise Mertens won their semifinals without losing sets on Saturday to advance to the title match on Sunday at the Prague Open.
Halep beat Irina-Camelia Begu in a semi-final between Romanians. Halep won 7-6 (2), 6-3 to advance to her second final of the year.
The No. 2 in the world is one win away from her 21st WTA title and second this year, after Dubai in February, her last contest before a five-month hiatus from the coronavirus pandemic.
Earlier in the day, Begu had secured his pass to the semis with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 victory over Sara Sorribes Tormo, in a duel suspended by rain on Friday with the Romanian leading 6-2, 0 -one.
Meanwhile, Mertens beat Kristyna Pliskova 7-5, 7-6 (4) to reach her first final of the season. the Belgian was down 3-0 in the tiebreaker before launching a comeback that ended with her first match point.
