Franmil Reyes hit a home run and produced three runs as the Cleveland Indians beat the Detroit Tigers for the 18th consecutive time on Friday, this time 10-5.
The 18 wins in a row are a record for the Cleveland franchise. Previously, the Indians’ best streak against the same rival was 17 wins over the Baltimore Orioles in 1954.
Aaron Civale (2-2) improved to 3-0 in four career starts against the Tigers. He allowed four touchdowns and eight hits over six innings, in which he gave away a walk.
Iván Nova (1-1) allowed eight runs and five hits in 3 1/3 innings, during which he walked two, to take the loss.
The Indians took a 2-0 lead in the second inning, thanks to a club from Reyes, between left and center field. The ball landed about 462 feet from home plate.
