With home runs by Stephen Piscotty, Chad Pinder and Marcus Semien during a nine-run offense in the fifth inning, the Oakland Athletics beat the San Francisco Giants 15-3 Sunday for their fourth straight victory.
Piscotty matched his career high with five RBIs as the A’s, which are the best in the AL, posted their 13th win in 15 games.
Pinder’s two-run home run as designated hitter made it 4-2. Mark Canha added a two-run triple, Piscotty added to the attack with a three-run hit and Semien with a two-run homer to extend the lead 11-2.
Pinder had his third career designated homerun and his first since Aug. 3, 2019, against St. Louis. Piscotty added a two-score double in the sixth inning.
Oakland gave Mike Fiers (2-1) an offensive backup to spare in his fifth start as the 35-year-old right-hander improved to 4-1. He struck out four over six innings and received two runs and seven hits.
Atléticos’ bats (16-6) beat Giants once again to sweep the series.
Right-hander Logan Webb (1-2) struck out five in 4 1/3 innings Sunday, but allowed five walks.
For the Athletics, the Venezuelan Franklin Barreto 1-0, the same as the Puerto Rican Vimael Machín.
For the Giants, the Honduran Mauricio Dubón 3-2. The Colombian Donovan Solano 5-0. Venezuelans Pablo Sandoval 2-1 and Wilmer Flores 4-0.
