With a goal from Swedish striker Fridolina Rolfö early in the second half, Wolfsburg beat Barcelona 1-0 on Tuesday and advanced to the final of the Women’s Champions League.

The German club will play for the title against the winners of the French cross between Paris Saint-Germain and Lyon, champions of the last four editions. The other semi-final will be played on Wednesday.

Wolfsburg was proclaimed European champion in 2013 and 2014.

Barcelona succumbed to Lyon in the final last year and has yet to conquer the competition for the first time.

The Catalans clearly dominated the commitment at the Anoeta stadium, but they did not know how to capitalize on their scoring chances.

Rolfö scored the winning goal with a shot from close range in the 56th minute.

The final will be on Sunday in San Sebastián, a city in northern Spain that hosts a mini-tournament starting from the quarterfinals.
