Milan hope that a full season of the services of Zlatan Ibrahimovic will result in a return to the Champions League after a seven-year absence.
Seven-time European champions Milan announced on Monday that the 38-year-old Swedish forward had signed a one-season contract.
The pact is for 7 million dollars (8.3 million euros), according to various reports.
Ibrahimovic began his second spell with the Italian side last January, after signing a six-month contract, and was key in the Rossoneri team’s rebound by scoring 10 goals in 18 Serie A games.
Milan finished sixth in the Italian league and earned a place in the Europa League.
Serie A kicks off on September 19, although Ibrahimovic could have his first performance two days earlier when the club visits Ireland’s Shamrock Rovers in the second round of the Europa League preliminary phase.
