42 new immigrant children in Trois-Rivières were able to receive school supplies in anticipation of their first school year as part of the School Bags project resulting from a partnership between Desjardins employees of Trois-Rivières and the Service reception for new arrivals (SANA).
Each year, SANA welcomes new immigrants, including refugees, temporary workers and asylum seekers.
In order to support these newcomer families, employees of the Caisse Desjardins de l’Est de Trois-Rivières, the Caisse Desjardins de Trois-Rivières and the Service Signature Desjardins Mauricie have mobilized.
On a voluntary basis, participating employees sponsored a child by providing him with all the items included on his list of school supplies, in addition to a school bag and a lunch box.
In total, 28 children from primary level and 14 from secondary level received this beautiful gift just in time for the start of the school year.
In addition to the contribution of their employees, the Caisses Desjardins of the city of Trois-Rivières jointly donated $ 5,000 to SANA to support it in its mission. This donation will allow, among other things, the organization to support some fifty additional families for the start of the school year.
