The Secretary of the Interior, Olga Sánchez Cordero, delivered the Second Government Report of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (2018-2024) to the Congress of the Union.
After declaring a recess in the Chamber of Deputies, the members of the Board of Directors of both San Lázaro and the Senate went to the Protocol Room for the ceremony.
The delegation of legislators was headed by the president of the General Congress, PAN deputy Laura Rojas.
Sánchez Cordero pointed out that both powers exercise their powers for the good of Mexico and that in the period from September 2019 to 2020 the country advanced thanks to the efforts of society and the government.
“The country’s hospital system was reconverted to try to save the greatest number of lives,” he said. Sánchez Cordero warned that the risks of rebounds and outbreaks of COVID-19 continue to appear on the five continents.
He reiterated the recognition of health workers in the face of the pandemic and expressed his condolences to the families of the victims of the coronavirus.
He reported that the president will not use his power to send a preferential initiative in this period.
Deputy Laura Rojas acknowledged the delivery of the Report and called to look to the future both the Executive and the Legislative, in addition to facing the complex situation that the country is experiencing (health and economic).
He considered that the 2021 Economic Package should be aimed at facing both crises and serving the millions of Mexicans whose income has been affected.
Once received, the commissions will review its content and call the heads of the agencies to appear, together with the above, the different banks will offer their position on the situation in the country.
