The City of Trois-Rivières is continuing the discharge of wastewater into the Saint-Maurice River due to a major failure of a discharge line that occurred on Tuesday evening, near the site of the former Aleris plant in the area. Cap-de-la-Madeleine, some time after the repairs carried out at the beginning of the week on a mechanical part.
The employees quickly noticed the problem, so the overflow was confined to the perimeter of the land.
Urgence-Environnement is presently on site and is supporting the City in the management of this event.
However, since only one contractor has the ability to repair this type of equipment in Quebec, it is possible that the spill will last a few days.
Until then, it is counting on the collaboration of the population to reduce its water consumption and thus reduce the quantity of waste water discharged.
