The number of victims of an armed attack last Tuesday night at a wake in Cuernavaca rose to nine, including a woman, in addition to a group of 16 people injured by gunshots, according to reports from police sources.
The deceased were accompanying a wake on Lázaro Cárdenas street, in the Antonio Barona neighborhood, when armed individuals broke into the place aboard pickup trucks, and from there they blazed the mourners. Four young people died at the scene, another while being taken to a private hospital while four other people died in the course of the morning.
The victims attended the wake of a 16-year-old who died on Monday in an accident with his motorcycle, when he was traveling through the Paso Exprés. His vehicle hit the retaining walls and he was thrown.
The crime of the nine people occurred around 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday and minutes later the medical aid services arrived to transfer the injured to the Red Cross, Social Security and private hospitals.
The area was taken over by units of the Morelos Police, agents of the Criminal Investigation Police and the National Guard.
They all organized an operation to find those responsible who allegedly escaped in two black and white trucks, but there are no official reports on their arrest.
Later, personnel from the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) lifted the lifeless bodies.
