In order to continue implementing its Tree Policy adopted in 2009, the City of Brossard wishes to adopt an Urban Forestry Intervention Plan. The development of the Plan was entrusted to Trame-Verte by the municipal council on August 25; an expense of $ 47,254.
“Identified as one of the flagship actions of the 2020-2021 Environmental Action Plan, the Urban Forestry Intervention Plan will meet the objectives of the Tree Policy – namely to promote planting at scale of the territory and to protect, maintain and enhance trees already in the ground – in addition to evaluating and targeting the priority actions to be taken to improve forest cover on municipal and private (residential) properties, as well as in the sector of industries, businesses and institutions ”, one can read in the documents of the City.
The Plan will bring together the analysis of cartographic data (canopy); field sampling; development of a diagnosis; an intervention strategy for municipal properties; recommendations for practices and interventions to be undertaken for municipal properties; an intervention strategy for private (residential) properties and the industrial, commercial and institutional sector; three detailed intervention scenarios, for private (residential) properties and the industrial, commercial and institutional sector; and a recommendation regarding the scenario to be implemented.
