Work on the frames of the Laviolette Bridge will begin on the night of September 8 to 9, advises the Ministry of Transport. This work will result in the establishment of reverse traffic in the evening and at night.
This obstacle will be in effect from Sunday to Friday from 7:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. and from Friday to Saturday from 8 p.m. to 9:30 a.m., until the end of the construction site in November.
The work on the bridge members will result in short complete closures, lasting approximately 1h30 each, twice a night, on the nights of Monday to Thursday, from 12:30 am to 2:00 am and from 3:00 am to 4:30 am.
The closings will begin on the nights from Sunday to Monday and end on Thursday mornings at 4:30 am.
Remember that this work represents an investment of nearly $ 2 million. It should be noted that the work on the frames is prior to the work to replace the central slab of the Laviolette bridge.
The weight of the new slab will be higher than the previous one, due to the materials used and its thickness. As a result, it became necessary to carry out the work on the frames in order to increase the structural capacity of the bridge. Some members need to be reinforced or added while others need to be replaced.
