The City of Trois-Rivières has been discharging wastewater to the Saint-Maurice River since Tuesday evening due to a broken pipe in the Cap-de-la-Madeleine sector. The City believes that the repair can be done during the weekend to, thus, stop the discharge of wastewater.
Yesterday, municipal employees carried out pumping and excavation operations on the site in order to access the breakage. By Sunday, the City believes it will be able to inspect, prepare and repair the damaged pipe.
Only one contractor has the ability to repair this type of equipment in Quebec.
In the meantime, the City of Trois-Rivières reiterates its appeal to the population, urging them to reduce their water consumption in order to limit the amount of wastewater discharged.
