The City of Trois-Rivières asks residents to avoid any contact with the bodies of water on the Le Madelinois golf course as well as the Sacré-Coeur, the Moulin and the Sanctuary ponds.
The second break in a wastewater pipe in the Sainte-Marthe sector resulted in a partial spill on the Le Madelinois golf course.
Environmental experts dispatched to the scene found that the sewage had reached the water bodies of the golf course. Sooner or later, some will reach the Sacré-Coeur, the Mill and the Sanctuary ponds.
Public Works will install ribbons to restrict access. Targeted telephony will be made in the perimeter to inform people in the neighborhood.
At the end of the day Tuesday, municipal employees were still excavating the pipe to check its condition and assess the work to be done.
The diagnosis and the action plan will be communicated on Wednesday.
It is still impossible to predict, at this time, when the spill will end.
