The head of the Institute to Return the Stolen to the People (Indep), Jaime Cárdenas Gracia, resigned from office.
According to the newspaper La Razón, the official had arrived in June 2020 to replace Ricardo Rodríguez Vargas.
Despite not disclosing the reasons, Cárdenas Gracia had denounced irregularities within Indep weeks ago.
Lawyer Jaime Cárdenas is an expert in electoral matters and has been a legislator for the Labor Party.
The lawyer will return to the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) where he is a professor and researcher at the Institute of Legal Research, according to the Animal Político news portal.
His predecessor, Ricardo Rodríguez Vargas, had left office to seek ownership of the Taxpayer Defense Attorney (Prodecon).
