At the moment, no serious mutation has been detected that makes the SARS-CoV-2 virus more aggressive or any modification with which it can be considered a new virus, reported Ernesto Ramírez González, head of the Technological Development and Molecular Research Unit of the Indre.

“At the international level, so far it has not been reported that there is a mutation or some molecular marker that is associated with severity, it has not been possible to demonstrate this.

“Indre also has to present what is happening in Mexico, but we have not detected that this happens, but we continue investigating,” he said.

Ramírez González added that currently 5 different strains of SARS-CoV-2 circulate in Mexico with 17 different lineages or subgroups. In addition, according to Indre’s investigations, it was established that the spread of Covid-19 began in the center of the country, towards the northern states and passing through the Bajío, it reached the southern entities.

The accumulated infections rose to 705,263, due to the registration of 4,686 new cases.

The estimated active cases add up to 31,961, which represent four percent of the total infections of the pandemic. While 78,907 are suspects and 506,732 are recovered cases. The national average occupancy in general beds is 30 percent.

In contrast, Nayarit registered 54 percent, Colima 49 and Mexico City 45 percent.

In beds with a fan, the average occupancy is 25 percent. However, Colima reported 45 percent, Mexico City reported 43 percent and Nuevo León 42.

Mexico will not buy vaccines until there are results

Hugo López-Gatell Ramírez, Undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, announced that Mexico will not acquire any vaccine against Covid-19, until the results of clinical phase three have been published, in which immunization is tested with thousands of people.

He added that our country will announce the vaccine it will buy, until the different scientific research committees analyze several candidate products and define which one has greater viability, since in this type of decision “it is not about wishes, preferences or whims” .

After the offer of the Russian President Vladimir Putin of his Sputnik V vaccine for free to the United Nations (UN), the undersecretary of health pointed out that so far the results of phase three of the investigation are not known, so which, its safety and efficacy are not known.
