The Quebec Senior AAA Hockey League (LHSAAAQ) in front of 50 spectators? – The Weekly Journal

After many relentless efforts, the Quebec Senior AAA Hockey League (LHSAAAQ) had confirmed the holding of its 2020-2021 season which was to begin on October 30. However, the recent restrictions issued by the Quebec government could jeopardize the said hockey season.

There is no hiding place: the bread and butter of a senior hockey team comes from the spectators. The rule which limited the number of spectators to 250 has also forced the Formule Fitness de Bécancour to bow out for the 2020-2021 season.

Now that the new rule stipulates that arenas can only accommodate 50 spectators in the green zone and in the yellow zone, and that 25 spectators in the orange zone, it could be that the other formations are in danger.

It remains to be seen whether the teams will be able to come to an agreement with the cities concerned and come to certain compromises, or even if the partners will want to get on the boat despite the current situation.

Green and yellow zone

Participants | During a team sport match, two teams may be present per field or separate sports site at the same time, including the support staff. The number of participants should ideally not exceed 50 people.

Spectators | As for spectators, the limit is one attendant / spectator per participant, up to a maximum of 50 (according to the infrastructure guidelines). The measures in force for physical distancing of 2 meters and the wearing of the face cover apply, that is to say that once seated, it is possible to remove it.
