The 10 governors who make up the Federalist Alliance, and who recently left the National Conference of Governors, demanded that the federal deputies fulfill their republican responsibility and stop the disappearance of the 109 trusts and participate in a robust debate on how to assign , make transparent and evaluate the budget allocation to all areas.
In a statement, the governors of Aguascalientes, Martín Orozco; from Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodríguez; from Coahuila, Miguel Ángel Riquelme; from Jalisco, Enrique Alfaro; from Colima, Ignacio Peralta; from Michoacán, Silvano Aureoles; from Chihuahua, Javier Corral; from Nuevo León, Jaime Rodríguez; from Durango, José Rosas Aispuro; and from Tamaulipas, Francisco García Cabeza de Vaca asked citizens to “pressure” their representatives to do the right thing. “We need to stop the dismantling of the Mexican state before it is impossible to rebuild it,” the governors said.
They recalled that this Thursday, the approval in the Budget and Public Account Committee of the Chamber of Deputies was announced, the opinion of the initiative that aims to cancel 109 public funds and trusts under the argument that they have operated in opacity; however, their disappearance does not offer an effective or transparent alternative to serve the population that will be left helpless by this decision.
“Among them we must remember that there are funds for relief to natural disasters and resources for the protection of journalists and human rights defenders. There is also the budget of the research centers that make up the historical memory and scientific commitment of the country, as well as support for cinema and culture, “they noted.
They indicated that although particular cases can be observed in which stricter supervision mechanisms are required, it is indisputable that the operation of these funds and trusts has helped the development of Mexico, not only in times of crisis and need, but also in strengthening of national artistic, intellectual and scientific capacities.
“The Federalist Alliance supports a greater demand in its honest management and transparency in the exercise of its resources and results, but is categorically opposed to its disappearance. Far from being a solution, this decision will only put life and life at risk. the livelihood of thousands of Mexican men and women, “they explained.
In addition, they said that the decision approved by the pro-government deputies and their allies in Congress, “can only be understood as one more example of the will to concentrate budget decisions under a cloak of discretion. The amount does not even amount to 10% of the losses registered in PEMEX and CFE this year, so it does not solve a budgetary need. It is a political decision and should be questioned as such. “
