Elements of the Mexican Army and the National Guard fought with an armed group of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel, first, in the municipality of Aguililla and at this time, in Coalcomán, Michoacán.
The first gunshot collision was reported to have occurred while federal forces were at a checkpoint installed in El Harapo, Aguililla municipality.
Reports indicate that the armed group tried to break through the checkpoint with three of their artisanal armored vehicles, while firing their assault rifles.
Authorities responded to what later became an ambush, of which the number of deaths or injuries is still unknown.
The authorities only confirmed that as a result of the attack, the armed and federal forces managed to destroy at least two of the vehicles of the criminal cell.
Similarly, it was announced that a couple of Mexican Army vehicles were also damaged during the onslaught of the criminal group at the service of the CJNG.
Later, it was reported that in the municipality of Coalcomán, another criminal cell of the cartel led by Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes “El Mencho” was perpetrating another attack.
This confrontation took place at a high point in the municipality of Coalcomán, where the states of Michoacán, Colima and Jalisco are at the top.
Villagers and local authorities warned that the shooting clash has already lasted for several minutes, of which the balance is unknown.
For two months, the Jalisco Cartel has increased its attacks against the inhabitants of that region of Tierra Caliente, as well as federal and state forces.
The operations of the Mexican Army, National Guard and Michoacán Police have also increased, which has caused more criminal attacks against them.
