193 thousand more deaths are registered, SSA report from January to September


In Mexico, there were 193,170 more deaths than expected from January 1 to September 26, according to the update of the statistical bulletin on excess deaths from the Ministry of Health (Ssa).

The expected deaths in 2020 in this period were 524,920 and those that occurred were 718,90.

The percentage of excess mortality in Mexico from all causes was 36.8%. The covid-19, one of the main ones.

The analysis of excess mortality It is processed through the registration of death certificates, as one of the proposed approaches to contribute to the assessment of the magnitude of the burden of the Covid-19 epidemic.

The entities that registered the highest excess mortality from all causes were: State of Mexico, with 36,225; Mexico City, with 34,128; Veracruz, with 13 thousand 731; Puebla, with 10,584; Guanajuato, with 9,447, and Baja California, with 1,315.

Meanwhile, at a press conference, in National Palace, José Luis Alomía, general director of Epidemiology, assured that the Ssa has detected 2,299 probable outbreaks of covid-19, through the Immediate notification system (NOTINMED), which aims to inform in a timely manner about events, diseases of national and international epidemiological interest and disasters, for decision-making in Public Health.

The number of probable outbreaks originated in the following places: 710 in public spaces, 59 among the family, 488 in hospitals, and 382 at work.

The ages in which these outbreaks have been most recorded are between 25 and 44 years. While the covid-19 outbreaks detected were 195.

The last week of July reached the maximum number of hospitalized in one day, with 18,837.

Yesterday the Health Secretary reported that there were 431 more deaths from covid-19, totaling 88,743.

In addition, he specified that 6,225 confirmed cases of coronavirus were reported, to add a total of 886,800 accumulated.
