As part of his project Rooted in our living environments, the Sustainable Trois-Rivières Foundation carried out three tree plantations in elementary school yards this fall.
It was with the collaboration of Beau-Soleil and Notre-Dame schools in Pointe-du-Lac as well as Saint-Michel school in the Forges district that the 29 trees were planted. In total, 509 students got involved by respecting the rules of social distancing and the necessary health measures.
In May 2021, educational workshops on the importance of trees, sustainable development and heat islands will be offered to students who participated in the planting.
American Forests and the Alcoa Foundation have also contributed to support the project and to green the living environments of schools free of charge and to offer them educational activities for the years 2019 to 2021.
