This Sunday morning, a 5.1 magnitude earthquake was registered with an epicenter in the southwest of Tapachula, Chiapas.
According to information from the National Seismological Institute, the earthquake occurred at 6:48 am this Sunday.
Civil Protection reported that communication is maintained with the State and Municipal Units to carry out a preliminary assessment of the area where the earthquake occurred.
He also reported that the Tsunami Warning Center (CAT) of the Secretary of the Navy (Semar) notified that the generation of a tsunami is not expected.
The local authorities have not commented on the matter.
