The Mexican Olympic Sports Center will open with a green traffic light

Due to the pandemic, the Mexican Olympic Committee (COM) held its ordinary assembly remotely for the first time in its history. The permanent and federative members attended virtually, including Olegario Vázquez Raña, honorary member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), who opened and closed the session.

Carlos Padilla Becerra, president of the COM, pointed out that “this 2020 has been a painful year, full of challenges and uncertainties.”

The manager reported that Mexican athletes have remotely received direct attention from the Directorate of Medicine and Applied Sports Sciences. There have been 795 medical consultations, in addition 150 psychological consultations and 250 of a nutritional nature.

He said that the facilities of the Mexican Olympic Sports Center (CDOM) will be reopened as soon as the covid-19 traffic light in Mexico City is green.

We must be extremely careful. We are committed to ensuring that bedrooms and kitchen and dining facilities, as well as gyms, the medical area and other facilities, are safe places for our athletes, ”he said.

Padilla Becerra praised the actions of the IOC during one of the most difficult moments in its history, having to postpone the Tokyo 2020 Games to 2021. “The president, Thomas Bach, endorsed the health and assets of the athletes as fixed priorities.”
