With an overall progress of 87%, the Mexico-Toluca Interurban Train performs route tests at the four stations located from Zinacantepec to Metepec.
Manuel Eduardo Gómez Parra, general director of Railway and Multimodal Development of the Ministry of Communications and Transportation (SCT), reported that the work will be completed in December 2022 and will begin operations in January 2023, to transport more than 300 thousand passengers a day.
This train will have 7 stations; four in the Toluca Valley, located in Zinacantepec, Toluca, Metepec and Lerma; and three in Mexico City, in Santa Fe, Vasco de Quiroga and Observatorio, reported engineer Gómez Parra.
With a total length of 57.8 kilometers, the interurban train will communicate in 39 minutes to more than 300 thousand passengers that every day they travel between Mexico City and Toluca.
With an investment of 63 billion pesos, the work is done between problems with landowners, which were mostly resolved in the territory of the State of Mexico and in Mexico City there are only three points of conflict, said the director of the SCT.
The work began in June 2014, it was paralyzed and a few days ago President Andrés Manuel López Obrador took a tour and announced its completion for 2022.
