Juan Manuel Carreras, president of the National Conference of Governors (Conago), convened this Thursday all state leaders, including those who are part of the Federalist Alliance, to have a meeting next week with the person in charge of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP), Arturo Herrera, and establish a work route to review the fiscal pact.
The also governor of San Luis Potosí indicated that in that meeting the agreements that were made in the last face-to-face meeting of the Conago, when the Ministry of Finance agreed to form a working group to review the fiscal pact, will be followed up.
Juan Manuel Carreras summoned all state leaders during a virtual meeting that Conago held this Thursday afternoon with members of the federal Cabinet, headed by the head of the Ministry of the Interior (Segob), Olga Sánchez Cordero.
Similarly, hours later, the president of the Conago said in a press conference that one of the objectives of the meeting will be to outline a work route to review the fiscal pact.
“The following week we will have a working meeting with the Secretary of the Treasury, it will be the next meeting of Conago, to fundamentally review the issues corresponding to 2020 and 2021 and, of course, a work route, because the participation of many more is needed actors, in order to influence the issue of reviewing the fiscal pact between the Federation and the states, “said Juan Manuel Carreras at a press conference.
It should be noted that the Federalist Alliance is made up of the leaders of Aguascalientes, Guanajuato, Coahuila, Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, Chihuahua, Nuevo León, Durango, and Tamaulipas.
These governors have not participated in Conago meetings since September, as they argue that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has not responded to their demand to review the fiscal pact.
