Customs seizes more than 10,000 COVID-19 tests in Ciudad Juárez

Merchandise contained in a truck with 10,950 pieces of medical tests for COVID-19 and 2 thousand more pieces of lancets for blood sampling was seized by customs personnel in Ciudad Juárez for trying to enter Mexico without paying tax contributions for one million 861 thousand pesos.

The Tax Administration Service (SAT) reported this morning that the medical material that was hidden in 20 cardboard boxes wrapped in black plastic, was found by elements of the General Administration of Customs (AGA) in a double fund to cross the border illegally.

When conducting the inspection at the border point of the Zaragoza customs section, belonging to the Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua customs office, AGA personnel managed to detect the merchandise.

The seizure was made and the merchandise was made available to the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) to integrate the corresponding research portfolio.

The SAT reiterated that with these actions, the AGA, in coordination with the National Guard, continues to advance to combat corruption and reduce tax avoidance evasion, actions that are part of the institutional ABC.
