‘Barbarians’ has become the new Netflix sensation. The German series created by Andreas Heckmann, Arne Nolting and Jan Martin Scharf is the most watched on the platform. The brutal Battle of the Teutoburg Forest has captivated audiences around the world. With this undeniable success, the question remains: Will there be a second season?
Netflix has not yet renewed any of the German series it recently released and, as reported by Express.com, is waiting to see what the reception from both public and critics to make a decision. One criterion, that of waiting to renew his series, which he usually applies to all his European productions in general.
With which, ‘Barbarians’ is no exception. However, the series starring Laurence Rupp, Jeanne Goursaud and David Schutter is having a very good reception on the part of the public (his leadership among the most watched on the platform is proof of this) and the critics, both his native Germany and internationally, are being good.
So, the series based on a real historical event, The Battle of the Teutoburg Forest, which was the first great defeat of the Roman Empire in its expansion through northern Europe, has a score of 7.4 out of ten on IMDb, 6.1 out of 10 on Filmaffinity and an acceptance percentage 93 percent of the audience on Rotten Tomatoes.
For now, we will have to wait, then It would not be the first time that Netflix has not renewed a successful fiction (such as ‘Marianne’). Now, in the hypothetical case that they renew ‘Barbarians’, it would be very interesting to know in which direction they will take it: The intrigues within the Roman Empire or the following exploits of Arminius?
