Slovakia yesterday launched a coronavirus detection program among the entire population with antigen tests.
Some 45,000 health, military and police professionals were deployed to carry out tests in this EU member country, collecting samples at about 5,000 detection points.
The world will be watching closely ”, declared Prime Minister Igor Matovic, estimating that the measure will save“ hundreds of lives ”.
People who do not have a negative test certificate for covid-19 are exposed to a heavy fine if they are detained by the police. Anyone who tests positive must be quarantined immediately for 10 days.
Widespread testing has already been conducted in Chinese cities. Smaller European states such as Luxembourg and Monaco have also announced massive test programs.
The Slovak government plans to finish the national tests in two days and hold a second round next weekend.
