The City of Brossard will spend a little more than $ 106,000 to install sound lights at the intersection formed by boul. Leduc, the entrance to the L’Avantage retirement home and access to the shops in Quartier DIX30.
The City’s engineering department carried out a study on traffic in the area in 2019, following a request from the Institut Nazareth et Louis-Braille for the installation of sound lights on boul. The Duke. After studying the file, the traffic committee recommended the installation of audible lights in order to promote the crossings of the North and West approaches of the intersection in question.
“The addition of sound signals will make it possible to secure the passage for people with visual impairments or reduced mobility, thus promoting universal accessibility on a major commercial axis”, we can read in the documents of the City.
The contract was awarded to the lowest compliant bidder, Bruneau Électrique, at the municipal council meeting on October 20. It includes the supply and installation of all the equipment necessary for the installation and integration of sound signal devices; all the civil works necessary to allow universal accessibility to the sound fires; as well as the restoration of the premises following the work.
The work should be completed next spring.
