Cristopher James Barousse, former PRI youth leader, arrested for deviations with César Duarte

The State Attorney General’s Office announced the arrest of Cristopher James Barousse for the diversion of 2,600,000 pesos from the state treasury during the administration of PRI César Duarte, currently imprisoned in Florida.

Within the framework of Operation Justice for Chihuahua, the prosecutor César Augusto Peniche Espejel reported that James Barousse has been hospitalized since Wednesday at the Aquiles Serdán Social Readaptation Center No. 1, while the hearing to formulate the accusation is being held.

“The criminal acts attributed to him, according to the court order, is having received between the years 2014 and 2016 the amount of 2,600,000 pesos in monthly and successive payments of 100,000 pesos,” he explained.

These amounts, he said, were diverted through the Ministry of Finance and were intended to pay the payroll of State Government employees and were used for the payment of electoral campaigns and bribes to multiple people, such as social and political actors in the state and national level.

Cristopher James Barousse was president of the Municipal PRI in Chihuahua in 2012; municipal, state and national leader, from 2012 to 2016, of the PRI’s X Mexico Youth Network, as well as Secretary for Liaison with Civil Society of the PRI’s National Executive Committee in 2017.

He also served as secretary of Relations with Educational Institutions of the National Executive Committee of the PRI, in 2018. The PRI also highlights on his Facebook profile that he has been a professor since 2011 at the Faculty of Accounting and Administration of the Autonomous University of Chihuahua.
