The investigation into the case of the newborn who, while alive, was presumed dead at the La Margarita General Hospital of the Social Security, in Puebla, “is a process that is underway,” so no conclusions can be advanced. said the general director of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), Zoé Robledo.

After the last October 21, with 23 weeks of gestation, the newborn was sent to the morgue where it remained in a corpse refrigerator for six hours, after being wrongly declared dead, the Social Security holder added that the Hospital authorities maintain close communication with the minor’s parents to provide full care, both for the baby and his mother, who is stable and continues under medical surveillance.

What have we been doing? On the one hand, an investigation procedure of the facts, in accordance with what is established by the institutional norm in Social Security in this type of cases. And from that it is that recommendations or the determination of some labor responsibility of public servants are established, but we have to channel a procedure without anticipating any conclusion.

I also want to say that the authorities and the directors of the General Hospital of Zone number 20 have maintained a very close communication with the parents of the minor to give them attention to all the needs they have and to give them all the information in a very punctual way about the evolution of the newborn ”, He detailed.

The director of Social Security indicated that the newborn was transferred and treated in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of the General Hospital of Zone Number 10.

All efforts have been made by the IMSS to save his life and he has received comprehensive care in this Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

I also want to tell you that the condition of an extremely premature baby is always reserved, but we are in it permanently and making every effort, “he said.
