The former spokesman for the self-defense groups in Michoacán, José Manuel Mireles Valverde, was admitted since last Tuesday at the Hospital of Specialties of the Institute of Security and Social Services of State Workers (ISSSTE), located in the municipality of Charo.
People close to the ISSSTE official also detailed that Mireles Valverde was admitted this morning to the intensive care area, with symptoms of COVID-19. Institution staff confirmed his hospitalization, but so far they have not specified his health.
Mireles Valverde was one of the spokesmen for the armed civil struggle in the entity and later became deputy delegate of Medical Services of the ISSSTE in Michoacán. In addition to the accusations against him for misogyny, he has been exposed when defending criminal groups during attacks on the armed forces in Tierra Caliente. He was also denounced by his daughter, his first wife and his son for domestic violence and death threats, which have ended up in the Public Ministry.
