More than 50 thousand medical students will participate this week in the application of the exam that will seek to expand by 100% the number of resident doctors in the public sector.
At a press conference, Alejandro Svarch, head of the National Medical Coordination of the Health Institute for Well-beingHe explained that the exam has been kept under the protection of the Army to prevent it from being filtered, commercialized and favoring some of those who will take it.
There are 9,449 new places-new scholarships (and a similar number already existing). It is important to point out this condition that they are scholarships, but they are vacancies, because the design of this strategic plan is important for this trained human resource to stay and work in the institutions of the national public sector, ”Svarch pointed out.
The investment of the federal government to open these possibilities to study with the promise of future work in the public sector will be 2,568 million pesos.
It should be noted that once the places have been assigned to the specialty students, their preparation will be four years on average.
The National Residency Exam It will be applied from November 7 to 13 at six locations distributed in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey and Villahermosa.
The specialties that will be dealt with in this exam are those of medical specialties linked to the core areas that are: pediatrics, general surgery, internal surgery, obstetrics and gynecology and those related to each of these disciplines together with an important discipline, which the IMSS it is the engine of this, which is family medicine, ”said the Secretary of Health, Jorge Alcocer.
The exams were designed by specialists and preloaded on tablets that are stored, transported and delivered by the Army.
With this extension of scholarships it is expected to reverse the deficit of specialists in the country, which is 0.9 per thousand inhabitants, the lowest average among OECD countries.
ASKS NOT TO GIVE PREFERENTIAL TREATMENT TO PÍO
President Andrés Manuel López Obrador He asked that his brother Pío not be given preferential treatment in the investigation that is being followed by the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) for the delivery of money that was made prior to the 2018 electoral process.
Pío López Obrador would have asked the Prosecutor’s Office to desist from investigating the delivery of money by David León, considering that any crime that could be classified would have prescribed.
“That the law be applied like any citizen, even if it is my brother, and that it be the public ministries, the judges, who decide. There is no influentialism in this government, there is no nepotism, cronyism … none of those scourges of politics ”, declared the president.
At a press conference at the National Palace, the head of the Executive insisted that there should be no preferential treatment for any member of his family.
I do not get involved in that, that is decided by the competent authority; But I am not going to speak to a judge nor am I going to speak to a minister nor am I going to speak to the prosecutor.

He reiterated that he does not authorize any member of his family or any person who is said to be close to him to request any preferential treatment or favor, or to carry a message on his behalf.
CHALLENGE BEFORE COURT
Pío López Obrador filed an appeal before the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judicial Branch (TEPJF, in order to challenge the office of the INE’s Inspection Unit, which initiated an investigation against him for the resources allegedly collected by the brother of the now President, in 2015, to benefit Morena’s campaigns.
The file was turned over to magistrate Indalfer Infante, who will have to substantiate the case, according to the TEPJF’s own November 4 file shift page.
Last August, a video was released in which Pío López Obrador allegedly received cash from David León, in 2015, when the latter was an operator of the Chiapas government.
