Man in Sonora murders his own daughter by stabbing her

A 23-year-old man was arrested on charges of attacking his one-year-old and two-month-old daughter with a knife; the baby died in a hospital after failing to overcome injuries to her neck and face.

The events occurred at 9:40 a.m. on Friday, November 6, at an address located in the urban area of ​​the Benito Juárez municipality, south of Sonora.

The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Sonora (FGJE) reported that this crime is being investigated as a femicide.

Elements of the Municipal Police acted as the first responding authority and arrested the probable culprit in flagrante delicto, who in the toxicological test was positive for marijuana.

The minor was allegedly attacked by Guillermo “N”, 23 years old, who caused her various sharp injuries causing her death at 10:11 am, in a hospital.

In an interview with a witness, the girl’s grandmother, she stated that the subject arrived at the house and asked for a glass of water; at the moment of serving it, the individual took out a knife and attacked the little girl. Although the complainant intervened, she was unable to prevent the man from injuring the minor.

Just at that time, elements of the Benito Juárez Municipal Police and the State Police were passing by, who observed that a male person ran out of the home with a knife in his hands, for which he was arrested.

The elements noticed the girl’s injuries and transferred her to receive medical attention at a local hospital, where minutes later she lost her life mainly due to the injuries she presented on her neck and face.

With the Homologated Police Report (IPH), prepared by municipal agents, the Agent of the Public Ministry opened an investigation folder for the crime of femicide, beginning with the corresponding investigations.
