The Chiefs (8-1) held onto the lead when Christian McCaffrey, back from an ankle injury, scored by advancing a yard with 1:26 to play.

The Panthers side kick was recovered by Kansas City, but used their three pauses to get the ball, and Teddy Bridgewater’s 23-yard pass to Curtis Samuel with 9 seconds it gave them hope.

Carolina (3-6) tried to pass McCaffrey, but the incomplete shipment forced Slye in. With the wind at his back, he kicked just off the sticks and the Chiefs escaped victorious.
