Patrick Mahomes threw passes for 372 yards and four touchdowns, Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill each exceeded 100 yards in catch passes, and the Kansas City Chiefs beat Carolina 33-31 Sunday.
The Chiefs’ victory was sealed when Panthers kicker Joey Slye missed a 67-yard field goal, which was wide open on the final play.
The Chiefs (8-1) held on to the lead when Christian McCaffrey, back from an ankle injury, scored by advancing a yard with 1:26 to play.
The Panthers’ side kick was recovered by Kansas City, but they used their three pauses to dispose of the ball, and Teddy Bridgewater’s 23-yard pass to Curtis Samuel with 9 seconds gave them hope.
Carolina (3-6) tried to get close with a pass to McCaffrey, but the incomplete delivery forced Slye in. With the wind at his back, he kicked just off the sticks and the Chiefs escaped victorious.
