Jesús Zambrano Grijalva, national president of the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD), asked the National Electoral Institute (INE) to review accounts in the pre-campaigns of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and the current governor of Puebla, Miguel Barbosa.
This, after El Universal released an investigation into Alejandro Esquer Verdugo, current private secretary of the president, who, when he served as finance secretary of the Morena party, hired ghost providers for the 2018 elections.
The leftist leader said that this practice is a flagrant violation of the law and is an important fraud when political parties should expose clarity and transparency of their accounts.
“It is clear that Morena carried out an illegal financing scheme for the Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Miguel Barbosa campaign,” Zambrano Grijalva accused.
For this reason, he said that the PRD filed a complaint regarding the financing of political parties for having contracted 15 pre-campaign events in the state of Puebla, with the provider “Ligieri de México SA de CV”, as well as the contracting of ten advertisements advertising with “Enec Strategias de Negocios y Comercio SA de CV”, companies that SAT itself has declared as ghosts; Furthermore, these were carried out with prices undervalued at the real price.
The leader of Sol Azteca specified that the leftist party filed the complaint to force the INE to reopen the accounts of Morena’s party to investigate and punish these illegal behaviors.
“Today it seems that the president won by cheating, we saw it with the videos where the president’s brother, Pío López Obrador, receives large amounts of money for Morena’s campaigns,” Zambrano Grijalva stressed.
And he specified that each time it has been shown that with illegal financing schemes and now hiring ghost companies was how Morena managed to win in 2018, therefore, he demanded that the law against Alejandro Esquer and Morena be applied.
