Report more than 238 thousand victims in the Mexican southeast after floods

The national coordinator of Civil Protection, Laura Velázquez Alzúa, reported that so far more than 238,000 people have been affected by the floods.

The official pointed out that in Chiapas there are 54,976 affected; in Tabasco, 160 thousand 596, and in Veracruz 22 thousand 976.

Personnel from the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) and the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar) have delivered 161,271 supplies, such as humanitarian aid, to the victims.

Mats, pantries, blankets, toiletry kit, water, diapers, feminine towels, baby bathtubs and other items are what federal authorities have managed to deliver to the affected people.

Mexico has received donations from France, Russia, Romania, Spain, Great Britain and Denmark.

On the other hand, this Saturday morning, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador traveled to the state of Tabasco to supervise the areas affected by the floods, as well as the attention measures that are being carried out in favor of the people of Tabasco.

In his first act, the head of the federal Executive visited the municipality of Macuspana, from which he is originally and which has been one of the most affected by the floods caused by the overflowing of rivers and the venting of dams.

At the end of the tour in Macuspana, the person in charge of Civil Protection, Laura Velázquez, explained to the President that humanitarian aid for this entity has been distributed, mainly, in the municipalities of Cárdenas, Centro, Comalcalco, Conduacán, Jalapa, Jalpa de Jiménez, Macuspana, Nacajuca, Jonuca, Centla and Teapa.

Velázquez Alzúa also explained that for now there are two open declarations of emergency for Agua Dulce, Uxpanapa, Las Choapas, Minatitlán, Texistepec and Uxpanapa.

Likewise, there are declarations of Disaster in Las Choapas, Moloacán, Agua Dulce, and Minatitlán.
