The National Meteorological Service (SMN) of Mexico reported this Sunday that very heavy rains are expected in the next few hours in the states of Chiapas, Oaxaca, Puebla, Quintana Roo, Tabasco and Veracruz, which are located in the south-southeast of the country.
In addition, he warned that a new cold front, the front part of a polar air mass, which causes a decrease in temperature, will approach the north of Mexico and cause rains and gusts of wind in the states of Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas and San Luis Potosí.
In a statement, the SMN indicated this day that very strong point rains (50 to 75 millimeters (mm)) are forecast in Chiapas, Oaxaca, Puebla, Quintana Roo, Tabasco and Veracruz.
In addition to intervals of showers (from 5.1 to 25 mm) in Campeche, Nuevo León, San Luis Potosí, Tamaulipas and Yucatán, and isolated rains (from 0.1 to 5 mm) in Coahuila, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Michoacán, Querétaro and Tlaxcala.
In the report, he added that icy winds are expected with gusts of 60 to 80 kilometers per hour (km / h) in the Gulf and Isthmus of Tehuantepec, and gusts of 60 to 70 km / h in Chihuahua and Coahuila, as well as waves of two four meters (m) high in the Gulf of Tehuantepec, and one to three meters high on the coast of Quintana Roo.
He specified that the conditions described will be caused by Tropical Wave number 44, which will travel over the Yucatan Peninsula and southern Mexican territory, which will be in interaction with a low pressure channel extended in the Gulf of Mexico, the flow of humidity from both coasts and a new cold front that will approach the northern border of the country.
In contrast, the SMN forecast maximum temperatures of 35 to 40 degrees Celsius for the states of Guerrero, Michoacán, Nayarit and Sinaloa, in the Mexican Pacific.
